This course examines the organizational structure and operation of various media outlets, including television and radio stations, newspapers, magazines, the Internet, advertising agencies, and public relations firms. Students learn techniques for managing media personnel. Topics include leadership, motivation, delegation, and reinforcement. Students participate in case studies designed to explore issues in media management, including policy-making, news coverage, client needs, ethical dilemmas, personnel conflicts, billing, profitability, media trends, and future technologies.
