This course emphasizes the origin and evolutionary patterns of vascular plants with an emphasis on flowering plants. The importance of various techniques used in the development of classification schemes, including those related to computer analyses and molecular biology, are discussed. Reproductive biology of flowering plants constitute a significant component of this course. The laboratory emphasizes the flora of Oklahoma. The course consists of three hours of lecture and three hours of lab oratory per week. Prerequisite: BIOL 2214.
