3 hours; 3 credits Definitions of feminism; feminists in the Renaissance and early modern Europe; feminist demands arising from the French Revolution; early radical feminism in the United States, France, and the Germanies; liberal and Marxist feminism; women's movements from the 1850s to World War I in the West; the development of women's movements outside of Europe and America; imperialism, feminism, and national independence; the "second wave": women's liberation movements sinc1968. This course is the same as History 30.3. Prerequisite: Core Studies 4 or permission of the coordinator.
