The nature of political community, the relationship between divine and political regimes, the beginnings of the shift toward secularism in governing, and the use of ancient Greek works of politics in nineteenth- and twentieth-century U.S. debates about justice. Prerequisite: Core Studies 3 or Political Science 1.51 or 1.7.
