Readings from political theory (e.g., Hobbes, Arendt, Foucault), literature (e.g., Brecht, Solzhenitsyn, Kafka), and history. Focus on case studies from the U.S., Latin America, the former Soviet Union, and Nazi Germany. Prerequisite: Core Studies 3 or Political Science 1.51 or 1.7.
