3 hours; 3 credits Intensive practical instruction in conducting, rehearsal techniques, and materials applicable to vocal and instrumental performance ensembles in the public schools. Emphasis on conducting, score study, rehearsal planning, organization and pacing, error detection and correction, student motivation, repertoire and concert programming, music performance curriculum, large and small choral and instrumental ensembles. Field observations and fieldwork in the public schools. Prerequisite: Music 6.3, 7.3, and 11.2; 61.1 or 62.1; and 63, 64, and 65; or permission of the director. Corequisite: Music 51. Music 273
