The earliest Yellow River civilizations, beginnings of royal institutions, foundations of Chinese religion, the cultural, social, and economic revolution of the Warring States, the establishment and evolution of the imperial state, China and Inner Asia, the spread of Buddhism, the growth of commerce, the flourishing of art and literature, the social order and ideology of the late empire. Prerequisite: Core Studies 4 or Core Curriculum 2.2 or permission of the chairperson.
