3 hours; 3 credits Theory of and fieldwork in oral history interviewing. Preparing for, conducting, and transcribing oral history interviews. Reviewing legal and ethical issues. Analyzing the relationship between history and memory. Studying the use of life history narratives in print, film, television, radio, exhibitions, performance, community history projects, and the classroom. Prerequisite: Core Studies 3 or Core Curriculum 2.3 and Core Studies 4 or Core Curriculum 2.2, or permission of the chairperson.
