Uses microeconomic analysis to assess the effectiveness of various financial instruments in meeting the needs of investors who have varying preferences for risk. Derives and applies a variety of financial-decisions rules, including those associated with asset-pricing and arbitrage-pricing models. Additional topics include: risk and return trade-offs, cost of capital, and capital budgeting. Prerequisite: Economics 20.1
