Use of archaeological evidence to analyze Egypt's global connections with Africa, the Near East, and the Mediterranean. Application of recent interdisciplinary approaches such as postcolonialism and gender theory to the archaeology of a central non-Western culture of the ancient world. Prerequisite: Junior standing and satisfaction of all lowertier requirements in Philosophical and Social Inquiry.
