While concentrating on literary themes and narrative techniques, this course aims to provide students with a better understanding of contemporary Latin American societies. Issues of feminism, gender, sexuality, and race, as well as political expressions, are central to the class discus - sions. Critical essays dealing with those issues, as well as videos and films, are integrated into the course work.
