3 hours; 3 credits each semester This one-year introductory course aims to give students a command of the written and spoken language and grammar. Emphasis is on communication skills and the cultures of Spanish-speaking peoples. Self-expression is developed through the use of dialogues, skits, audiovisual aids, and Web activities. Lab work is required. (Credit for SPA 1001 will be deleted without completion of SPA 1002.)
