3 hours; 3 credits each semester This is a yearlong introductory course in conversation geared to giving the student a command of the everyday spoken language and grammar with a special concentration on the culture and mores of the French-speaking people. Students are drilled in the practical usage of the language while gaining a basic knowledge of French civilization. Self-expression is developed through the use of dialogues, skits, and audio - visual aids. (Credit for FRE 1001 will be deleted if FRE 1002 is not completed.)
