Topics include the historical development of Europe, its politics, society, and culture at the turn of this century; the First World War and its impact; the Russian Revolution and the modernization of the Soviet Union; the rise of Fascism; the Great Depression; the crisis of democratic Europe; and the Second World War and the aftermath of total war.
