Topics will include gods and goddesses; heroes, peasants, and slaves; colonies, lawgivers, and tyrants; Sparta against Athens; Athenian democracy and the Athenian empire; sex and the family; and philosophy. Prerequisites: Tier II in history and ENG 2150 or departmental permission.
