3 hours; 3 credits This course introduces students to the fundamental financial issues concerning mergers and acquisitions. It covers a background on mergers and acquisitions; the valuation of M&A transactions; tax and accounting for M&A transactions; analyzing the type of acquisition-hostile versus friendly; adopting tactics to deal with hostile takeover bids; managing merger negotiations first-hand; and junk bonds and LBOs. Prerequisites: FIN 3610, FIN 3710, and ECO 4000, and a minimum 2.0 GPA (C average) in FIN 3610, FIN 3710, and ECO 4000.
