3 hours; 3 credits This course investigates the art market in history from the Renaissance to the contemporary United States. It explores the ways in which the marketing of art differs from that of other commodities. It addresses questions of authenticity and rarity in determining value as students become acquainted with New York's auction house and gallery network through field trips.
