3 hours; 3 credits This introductory studio course acquaints students with the terms and procedures essential to aesthetic decision making and analysis. Individual creative projects in abstract visual problem-solving explore the links between word and image, while study of the elements and principles of design provides a basis for further study in graphic communication. The course includes relevant theoretical, historical, and contemporary perspectives. Museum and gallery visits support its goals. No art background is needed.
