3 hours; 3 credits This introductory studio course acquaints students with the terms and procedures essential to aesthetic decision making and analysis. Students learn how to apply principles of color, line, and form to the everyday world, including the business environment. Individual creative projects in abstract visual problem-solving explore the links between word and image, while study of the elements and principles of design provides a basis for further study in graphic communication. The course includes relevant theoretical, historical, and contemporary perspectives. Museum and gallery visits support its goals. No art background is needed.
