Consideration of the nature and scope of ethical reflection as an inherently social phenomenon. Through an analysis of several classical and contemporary ethical theories, the course deals with such issues as the nature of value, the basis of normative value judgments and ethical prescriptions, and the implications these reflections on value and conduct have for our conceptions of the truly human community.
