3 hours; 1 credit Advanced reading for ESL students who have reached a minimal competence in writing but need additional work in reading English. Emphasis on the comprehension and analysis of texts relevant to the humanities, sciences, and social sciences. Focus on the development of vocabulary, study skills, and critical thinking. Prerequisite: one of the following courses: ESL 14, 14.1, 15, 15.1; a passing score on the CUNY Writing Test but not on the CUNY Reading Test; and permission from the program.
