Levin, Staff Introduction to the interdisciplinary field of political psychology, spanning the traditional fields of psychology, political science, history, and sociology. The course covers both classical debates and current trends of research, with an emphasis on the following topics: a history of political psychology, authoritarian personality theory and political attitudes, personality and political leadership, the nature and structure of political thought, public opinion and voting behavior, political socialization, mass media in politics, elite decision-making, intergroup and international conflict in politics, and destructive obedience and genocide. Offered occasionally.
