Rachlin In the late '60's, France started to come to terms with itsFascist past and its complicity with the Holocaust. This course examines why and how French collective memory was reshaped a generation after the end of World War II. We will look at works by historians like Paxton, Rousso, Azema, and Wieviorka; writers like Modiano, Duras, Raczymov, Finkielkraut; and filmmakers like Malle, Ophüls, Resnais, Lanzmann and Losey. Prerequisite: French 44 or equivalent. Offered every year.
