This course is a study of the written language of music as related to the traditional practice of the Western art from the 17th through the 19th centuries. Analytical, writing, and keyboard harmony skills are systematically developed. Basic components of scales, intervals, triads, and modalities are established. Prerequisite: MUS 10703 or equivalent skill levels indicated by the score on the Music Theory Placement exam. Fall.
