This course is a study of the written language of music as related to the traditional practice of the Western art from the 17th through 19th centuries. Analytical and writing skills are systematically developed. Neapolitan, borrowed chords, and sixth chords are emphasized. Formal structure, upper partial chords, and altered chords are studied. Prerequisite: MUS 12203. To be taken concurrently with MUS 20302. Fall.
