This 3-credit hour course examines the role of the visual arts from a number of cultural perspectives, or "functions of art". This coursewill also study the structure and design components of art, as well as the various media and techniques used to create it. Throughout the semester, we will survey a selection of art objects, taking into account the cultural, historical, political, religious, and social forces that influence artistic production. This course is intended for non-art majors and those students completing a Minor in Art. Art majors will cover these topics in other courses. Prerequisites: None Fall Spring
