Class piano study of accompanying in basic jazz styles; technique (arpeggiated seventh chords, major, minor and diminished); scales (pentatonic, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian); advanced harmonizations and resolutions in all major keys; modulations from full diminished seventh chords; introduction to American song literature for sight reading and performance (Arlen, Ellington, Gershwin, etc.); harmonization at sight from chord sheets. Prerequisite: Completion of piano proficiency or consent of instructor. 2 hrs
