The goal of the course is to familiarize the student with the poignant search for self awareness and definition witnessed in the letters and fine arts of Mexico in the 20th-century. Readings will include works by Vasconcelos, Reyes, Ramos, Paz, Rulfo and Fuentes, and will be complemented by slide presentations of pertinent works by major artists. 3 hrs
