The two major theoretical approaches relative to explaining aggression, ethological and psychological, will be presented and contrasted. The adequacy of these approaches in explaining assaultive and criminal forms of human behavior will be examined. Specific topics may include child and spouse abuse, murder, delinquency, riots, territoriality, "catharsis" in sports, television and violence and others. Prerequisite: PSYCH 210. 3 hrs
