Students will explore two main areas of social scientific discourse in Latin America: theories of development and marginalization; and feminist interpretation of and responses to development. We will explore how the phases of political and economic history are reflected in ideas about development, dependency, and women's issues. A large part of the class will be concerned with the increasingly important issue of street children in Latin America and other minority issues. Offered: Winter P 4 hrs
