An exploration of colonialism through the study of a variety of texts, which may include literary, historical, and theoretical texts. These texts should represent the formation and elaboration of discourses surrounding colonialism. Texts will be drawn from more than one genre and from the metropole as well as multiple colonial contexts. The course will consider several definitions of colonialism and related terms such as empire, imperialism, and nationalism. Prerequisite: None 3 hrs
