An introduction to the empirical side of economics. Estimation theory and the properties of commonly used estimators are covered. Some of the more important topics dealt with are: multiple regression, heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation in regression analysis, analysis of variance and the use of qualitative variables in regression analysis. Hands-on work with computer software designed for econometrics is stressed. No experience with computers necessary. Prerequisites: ECON 301, ECON 302 and MATH 235 or its equivalent. Semester offered: Every year. 3 hrs
