This course presents an in-depth study of African Art from the sub-Sahara Region. The first half of the course will explore the major art-producing archaeological cultures of Mali, Nigeria, Chad, and Zimbabwe. The second half will concentrate on the ethnographic present and focuses on the major art-producing cultures of West, Central and Southern Africa. Prerequisite: ART 315 or instructor's permission.
