The course will discuss 2500 years of the arts of ancient Mexico, Guatemala and Peru. Included is the rise of such important cultures as the Olmec, Maya, Aztec and Inca. Equal emphasis will be placed on the development of elaborate ceremonial centers such as Monte Alban and the Teotihuacan as well as the ceramic tradition of the West and East coasts of Mexico and the ceramic textile traditions of pre-Columbian Peru. Prerequisite: ART 315 or permission of instructor. Offered: On demand. 3 hrs
