A survey of ancient and medieval Western art. The course will begin with the great civilizations of the Mediterranean basin and consider the changes wrought by the introduction of Christianity and Islam. Study of the medieval era will include Romanesque and Gothic architecture through the 15th century, but will not include the beginnings of panel painting nor of independent sculpture. This course meets the college fine arts requirement. Every semester. 3 hrs
