Considers the relationship between culture and identity in the "local" context of multiculturalism in America and the "global" context of conflict and identity politics. Examines concept of "culture," "ethnicity," "race," and "identity" in social science literature. Considers issues of power, social justice, and identity pluralism in both domestic and international contexts. Satisfies seminar requirement. Satisfies senior comprehensive requirement.
