Study of alternative conceptions of the elements of a good life, including topics such as courage, loyalty, devotion to ideals, personal flourishing, commitment to a community or tradition, spiritual enlightenment, integrity, compassion, and intellectual understanding. Also covered are fundamental questions such as the meaning of life, the relationship of "living right" to "living well," and the role of feelings in the justification of action.
