Blends the latest research in criminology with that from social stratification, inequality, and social welfare policy with the objective of exploring the relationship between levels of general social justice and specific patterns of crime and punishment. The focus is primarily on the U.S. although many other industrialized democracies are compared. An introductory course in sociology is recommended as preparation. (Also offered as Sociology 123.
