Focus is placed on contemporary issues in critical theory and studio practice in comparison with theory and practice in other historical contexts. Students are introduced to topics that involve the social, political, and aesthetic role of visual images in both the private and public domains. While theory and practice are addressed in the context of Western cultures, guest speakers introduce topics related to the visual practices of their cultures. Enrollment limited to 200.
