Investigates cultural analysis of consumer society, commodities, and consumer practices. Students develop their own research projects. Themes include: critiques of consumer society; symbolic analysis of goods, consumption as resistance, anthropologies of marketing, culture jamming; consumption and (post) colonialism. Prerequisite(s): courses 1, 2, and 3; satisfaction of the Entry Level Writing and Composition requirement. Enrollment restricted to senior anthropology majors. Enrollment limited to 20.
