This course covers the responsibilities of the surgical technologist in the first scrub role in the intra-operative and post-operative phases of the surgical procedure. The course content will provide further instruction on perioperative patient care concepts and supplies used during the course of surgery with further applications of aseptic technique. The student will also be introduced to endoscopic surgical procedures as their level of studying specific procedures. In addition, the course will provide instructional content in principles related to drug terminology, measurement, proper handling, and information on the various drugs used in surgery, including anesthesia concepts. This class includes a surgical rotation component. ( Prerequisites: SUR 125)
