This course covers the principles and concepts related to aseptic technique for non-sterile and sterile responsibilities, preoperative patient care, and supplies and equipment as related to the role of the surgical technologist. In addition, the course will provide instructional content in principles related to drug terminology, measurement, proper handling, and information on the various drugs used in surgery, including anesthesia concepts. This class includes a surgical laboratory rotation. ( Prerequisite: SUR 110)
