Through this in-depth study of data semantics, graphics-based data modeling, relational algebra, the database language SQL, and normalization theory, students develop a solid and practical foundation for the design and implementation of relational database systems. Students will learn the practical applications of database technology: the acquisition, specification, and management of data. Advanced topics such as enterprise databases, database recovery, database security and concurrency control issues will be discussed. Students will asses an organization's information and data availability to design and build. (Prerequisite: CIS 500)
