This course introduces approaches and techniques of digital imaging applied to the art of photography with a focus on the use of a digital camera and Adobe Photoshop. Students are introduced to the technical and practical aspects of using a digital camera and the basic manipulation of digital images in Photoshop. Emphasis is placed on the creative process while exploring the aesthetics of photography and electronic image making as a means of communication used by contemporary artists and graphic designers. Honors students are required to use a digital SLR for at least one project, which introduces them to manual camera controls and Camera RAW adjustments, allowing for greater creativity and professional results. For this class, students are required to present a portfolio of 3-5 exemplary works.
