This is the Graphic Design Capstone class in which students integrate illustration, imaging, and layout to produce a cohesive multi-page document. This class focuses on the process of publication design from conception through design and production. Topics include typography, layout, and application of design theory, production (paper selection, ink selection, file preparation, and wiring job specifications) and an introduction to copyright issues and legal and ethical aspects of the design profession. The writing component for this course must include a comprehensive project proposal and multiple articles to be used in the magazine design. Software for illustration, imaging and layout techniques are used with a focus on the production of multi-page documents. Students are required to produce a 12 page magazine of their own conception and to print, trim and bind it properly for their portfolio. ( Prerequisite: ART 263)
