Art 100 is a foundation class that provides students with the basic visual vocabulary for designing on a two-dimensional surface. Students learn how to effectively apply the principles of design (unity, balance, variety, emphasis, rhythm, economy, proportion/scale) to solving varied design problems. Students explore a variety of media as they investigate the design process and create two-dimensional projects with an emphasis on professional presentation formats. Students are introduced to basic navigation skills utilizing the Macintosh platform. Students are required to present a portfolio of 2-5 exemplary works.
