This is a production-based foundation class that introduces digital page composition; the integration of type and image. Students will begin the course by researching and presenting papers on the history of publication from Guttenberg's Bible to David Carson' s Raygun . Students are introduced to InDesign and utilizing grids for the basics of page composition for single- and multi-page documents, elementary typography, press types and operations, paper properties, spot color and four-process color, inks, preflight and output operations, and binding and finishing methods.
