Spring. Credits: 4. Degree Requirements: Social Science. A study of political structures, parties, bureaucracies, leadership hierarchies, foreign policies in selected Southeast Asian countries. Particular attention will be given to political development; the impact of war in Indochina; the threat of communism; the potential for regional organizations, especially the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN); and the areaĆ­s role in the new world order. Prerequisites: International Studies 200 or permission of the instructor.
