This course introduces the student to archaeological methods and theory through the study of prehistory from the origins of plant and animal domestication to the origins of early states in the Old and New Worlds. Covered are both the archaeological evidence available and the theoretical explanations offered for such cultural developments. Students should take 207 or 208, but not both. (Course offered in rotation with 207 and 211, course scheduled for 2008-2009.)
