This course explores the diversity of cultures and writings of Latin America, from pre- Columbian indigenous texts through the nineteenth century. Readings will include the Popol Vuh, Chronicles, the works of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Ricardo Palma, and JoséMartí, among others. Class discussions and assigned papers based on literary analysis and research. Meets multicultural requirement; meets Humanities I-A requirement D. Mosby Prereq.
