This survey course on abnormal psychology focuses on understanding diagnoses included in the American Psychiatric Association's Di- agnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition and their implications for the understanding and treatment of psychological disorders. Throughout the course we will question the concept of abnormality and examine its positive and negative effects in the amelioration of human suffering. Meets Social Sciences III-A requirement P.
